Verizon Midwest Savvy Savers Kick-off Event #VZWSS

This past weekend I headed to Chicago to join several other bloggers help kick-off the Verizon Midwest Savvy Savers program.

Since Chicago is not that far from home, my husband and I decided to take the opportunity to enjoy a road trip together instead of flying.

Once there we checked into the very trendy and very cool Hard Rock Hotel. Waiting for me was this nice Verizon goodie bag!

Well, “goodie” is definitely an understatement! As part of the Verizon Midwest Savvy Savers program not only do I get to share Verizon Deals with my readers and followers, but I will be participating in a couple of product reviews as well. Inside the bag, along with a Verizon travel mug, was my first Verizon product to review- the Motorola Droid Xyboard!

After spending time with other Midwest Savvy Savers members and learning all about the Xyboard from a Motorola expert, I’m feeling totally pumped! I’m ready to put this baby to the test, and to share all of my honest opinions along the way.

So far I can tell you that using the map app to find our way around the city of Chicago, was a big success!

Don’t forget you can follow my daily updates on Twitter (#VZWSS) and Facebook, as I get to know the Xyboard and how it fits into my everyday life!

Disclosure: I am participating in the Verizon Wireless Midwest Savvy Savers program and have been provided with a wireless device and six months of service in exchange for my honest opinions about the product. I was also compensated for my travel and provided with two nights of lodging while attending the kick off event in Chicago.

Thin Ice Arrives on Blu-ray and DVD June 12

GREG KINNEAR AND ALAN ARKIN ARE ON

THIN ICE

Caper Comedy Featuring Star-Studded Cast Breaks Through To Blu-ray and DVD June 12

Hailed as “a crime twist worthy of Hitchcock and dialogue worthy of the Coen Brothers” (Screen Daily), Thin Ice arrives on Blu-ray and DVD June 12 from Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment. Starring Oscar®-nominee Greg Kinnear (As Good AS It Gets, Little Miss Sunshine), Academy Award winner® Alan Arkin (Little Miss Sunshine), Billy Crudup (Almost Famous, Jesus’ Son) and Lea Thompson (Back To The Future), this intriguing caper premiered to critical praise at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year.

Mickey Prohaska (Kinnear) is a small-time insurance agent looking for a way to jump-start his business, reunite with his estranged wife (Thompson) and escape the frigid Wisconsin weather. This self-proclaimed master of spin believes that salesmanship is about selling a story — all he needs is a sucker willing to buy it. He hits pay dirt with a lonely retired farmer (Arkin) who is sitting on something much bigger than an insurance commission. But Mickey’s attempt to con the old man spins out of control when a nosy, unstable locksmith (Crudup) with a volatile temper dramatically ups the stakes, trapping him in a spiral of danger, deceit and double-crossing.

The Thin Ice Blu-ray and DVD offers three bonus features including a behind-the-scenes featurettes, deleted scenes and a look at the Sundance premiere. The Blu-ray will feature both the theatrical and Director’s cuts of the film.

Stay update on the release of thin Ice and plenty of other exciting movies by following Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment on Twitter!

Mighty Fine Film Review

Set in the 1970s, “Mighty Fine” is the story of Joe Fine, a charismatic, high spirited man, who relocates his family-wife Stella, daughters Nathalie and Maddie – from Brooklyn to New Orleans, in search of a better life. Only to have it all go very wrong.

I recently had the pleasure of attending an online advanced screening of Mighty Fine.

The setting is prefect, and the 70′s styles and home decor leap off the screen bringing back memories of a decade long behind. Reminding me that the 70′s not only had hideous, but some awesome fashion! The film is based on a common story that most of us have had touch our life at one point or another. Most of the cast does a good job, as does the director, with what they have. The script I felt could have been better and suffered with a few major loop holes. I would have preferred the film be a little longer, than to be left hanging with out answers. I tend to be fan of independent films, and can appreciate and still have great love for them when they are not perfect. Sadly, Mighty Fine just doesn’t fall into that category for me. Of course you should see the film for self. That to me is the beauty of entertainment – so many people can leave the same film with a different experience and opinion.

Mighty Fine opens in select theaters on May 25th. Click here to find a theater near you.

Disclosure: I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Mighty Fine and the distributor. I received access to an online showing of the film and a promotional item to thank me for participating.

Trailer Park Tuesday #TrueBlood Season 5 #WaitingSucks

Season 5 of “True Blood” premieres Sunday, June 10th.

I’ve had a love hate relationship with True Blood from the beginning. I loved the first season, was bored with the second, and actually gave up on it until the end of season three. The fourth season has by far been favorite. Now seeing the above trailer, I’m thinking season five might be even better than four. Christopher Meloni as Roman, Guardian of The Authority! Um, yes please! I agree with the Twitter hash agree – #WaitingSucks. Can it be June 10th now?
