For all of Michigan, and most of the Midwest, we recently had a ton of snow, and our first official “Snow Day,” not that uncommon for this time of year, but it didn’t stop there, we received an unbelievable amount of snow over three days, creating our first “Snow Weekend” in quite some time. Just because a snow day, or days are an unscheduled surprise, doesn’t mean they have to be an stressful. When you make the most of the time together, they can be a whole lot of fun.
Here are 3 Tips To Survive (and even enjoy) A Snow Day:
Relax and enjoy a good breakfast. It’s the perfect day to slow down and spend some extra time cooking. I also like to bake. So, I took advantage of not having to rush out the door and whipped up a few batches of muffins. It was a nice treat for my family, and with plenty leftover to put into the freezer for those busy on the go mornings when we wish we had fresh baked muffins.
Pull out those cozy clothes or just plan to stay in your pajamas. There could never be a more appropriate pajama-day than being snowed in. Also, don’t forget to grab a blanket, and curl up with your loved ones. Our hounds have mastered this one for sure. I think couch snuggling under a blanket is their favorite sport. That is a sport, right?
Dust of those board games, and playing cards. We are big on board games in our family. Though, we have also been known to enjoy a fun video game from time to time. And, let’s not forget TV binging and movie watching. We have Xfinity, and just recently added HBO and Starz via their new Instant TV feature. It’s perfect for busy on the go families like us that stream a lot of entertainment.
I love that families can choose their own channels, stream live sports, top shows, the local news, and more on any device with no extra equipment at a surprisingly low fee. Another feature I’m excited to use with Instant TV is the ability to record up to 20 hours of DVR storage and skip the commercials. Hello The Ellen DeGeneres Show that airs while I’m at work! Without commercials, I am going to be able to enjoy the heck out of you during my lunch breaks. Yes!
