Palace Sports and Entertainment and the Detroit Pistons announced today a partnership with Comcast to distribute and host selected multimedia non-game content on Comcast’s local origination channel, CN900, and on their Get Local Video on Demand platform.
Beginning Saturday, June 27, over 1 million XFINITY® subscribers in Michigan will be able to see “The Courtside Show” featuring Pistons radio play-by-play announcers Mark Champion and Rick Mahorn broadcast live on Comcast CN900. Currently produced for radio and live web distribution on www.pistons.com and www.foxsportsdetroit.com, CN900 will be the exclusive broadcast television outlet for this topical weekly sports/talk and call-in program. The show airs live every Saturday from 11am to 12pm.
In addition to “The Courtside Show,” Comcast will host a wide variety of Pistons video content on XFINITY’s Get Local Video-on-Demand platform in Michigan. Player profile features and behind-the-scenes footage, unforgettable moments, trending news and information as well as Pistons’ outreach efforts in the community will comprise newly added video content that will be updated frequently.
“We are pleased to partner with Comcast in a way that utilizes their vast distribution capability as a way to share Detroit Pistons content with our fans and complement what we distribute digitally on Pistons.com and FSD.com,” said Charlie Metzger, Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer for the Detroit Pistons. “We look forward to the live broadcasts of our weekly radio program “The Courtside Show” and additional video-on-demand placement for our Pistons Programming Network features.”
From Comcast’s perspective, a broadcast partnership with the Palace and the Detroit Pistons is long overdue,” says Bill Harder, Senior Manager of local programming for Comcast in Michigan. “The content they produce is the best in the industry, and to be an outlet for this excellent programming is great for both the Pistons and our subscribers.”
Comcast XFINITY subscribers can catch “The Courtside Show” with Mark Champion and Rick Mahorn Saturday mornings at 11am ET beginning June 27 on CN900.
