Looking for a hearty, savory crock pot meal? This easy beef stew is a perfect, set and forget meal our family really enjoys. It’s also a tasty way to warm up during the cold winter months.
2 pounds beef stew meat
2 cups beef broth or stock (I sometimes use 1 cup each for flavor)
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
4 carrots, sliced thick
1 – 8 oz package of steak cut mushrooms
3 potatoes, diced thick
1 large onion, chopped
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon paprika
1 to 2 cloves garlic minced (depending on preference, I like 2)
1 bay leaf
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
Place meat in slow cooker. In a small bowl mix together the flour, salt, and pepper; pour over meat, and stir to coat meat with flour mixture. Stir in the garlic, bay leaf, paprika, Worcestershire sauce, onion, beef broth, potatoes, carrots, and celery.
Cover, and cook on low setting for 8 to 10 hours, or on high setting for 4 to 6 hours.
You are going to love the home-cooked, delicious aroma that fills your house while this stew cooks.
We enjoy round, garlic & cheese croutons from our local deli with our stew. The flavors are wonderful together.
