Remodeling On A Budget, Part 1

We are in the middle of a major home remolding project. I’m excited to have the opportunity to share the details here on my blog as we give a complete make over to three rooms (kitchen, dinning, living room) in our home and do it on a budget.

Here are just a few tips that I have learned so far:

1. Use coupons! Shop eBay for Home Depot or Lowe’s coupons before you even get started. Purchasing 10% off coupons for only a few dollars has literally saved us hundreds so far.

2. Plan a head! Don’t rush into anything. Give yourself plenty of time to shop around for the best deals.

3. Be willing to compromise. Stores like Home Depot and Lowe’s offer a clearance section in almost every department. Be sure to check them often for surprise savings. Also ask if they currently have discounted paint behind the counter. Let someone’s too light or too dark mixed paint be money kept in your budget for other things. Trust me, when it comes to remolding there will always be “other things”!

4. Do everything you are capable of yourself! Thankfully, my husband is a real “do it yourself” kind of guy. This has saved us a ton!

To be continued…

  1. Aside from eBay, another great resource is Plastic Jungle for discounted gift cards.
