Do You Believe In The Tooth Fairy?

Sounds like a silly question. Do you believe in the Tooth Fairy? The people at Fox Home Entertainment and Universal Studios have been working extra hard to be sure that you do! They recently wrapped up filming the second installment of the 2010 hit family movie, Tooth Fairy.
Coming to Fox Blu-ray and DVD in 2012, Tooth Fairy 2 is sure to bring a lot of laughs while delivering some of the same heartfelt lessons as the first:

“Tooth Fairy 2 finds Florida car repairman and one-time Metro County Miracle bowling champ Larry Guthrie (Larry the Cable Guy) having one bad day. He just learned his ex-girlfriend, schoolteacher Brooke (Erin Beute), plans to marry his arch enemy, a local politician (David Mackey). When Larry shows up at Brooke’s after-school program to talk her out of it, his big mouth lands him in trouble as he inadvertently breaks the news to a child that the Tooth Fairy is just a myth. Now, unless Larry collects 20 teeth in 20 days, the Tooth Fairies are going to erase his greatest memory. And unless he can prove to Brooke that he’s a changed man, he’s going to lose her forever.”

I recently had the pleasure of visiting the Tooth Fairy 2 set at Universal Studios, Orlando.

If you were following my tweets you already heard and saw a lot of what I experienced. I had a wonderful couple of days in Florida as a guest of Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment. I was lucky to be surrounded by not only talented people in the movie industry during this trip, but to also have been a part of a great group of bloggers.

Our time together started with a delicious dinner at Emeril’s Restaurant the evening before our set visit. A must if you are planning to visit Orlando.

Our day on set was filled with great behind the scenes peeks, photo ops, and spending time with producer Alan Blomquist (Walk the Line, Chocolat, Cider House Rules) and Dan Whitney (aka Larry the Cable Guy, Only In America). Getting to know both of these talented and down to earth men in a relaxed atmosphere was such a great experience. I was really impressed by how welcoming they both were to our group and questions.

Before we go any further and to answer the one important question that everyone wants to know – YES Larry wears a pink tutu and tights in the film! Trust me it is going to be funny!

Dan (Larry the Cable Guy) loves to ad-lib while working. Like most truly funny comedians, it’s clear that this is where he really shines. “I would really like to see someone try to stop him”, a quote from Alan Blomquist. Judging by the out come, I don’t think we’ll be seeing that anytime soon. What I did see during our day together – Dan is family man! He is also a pretty charming everyday guy, who likes to spend his free time golfing and fishing. He talked about how having a wife and family has impacted his stand up character and role choices. He was also quick to show off family photos on his phone. Definitely worth bragging about, a beautiful family, and budding main stream career (have you seen Only In America?) Dan Whitney (Larry the Cable Guy) in my opinion is on the fast track to having it all.

Producer, Alan Blomquist has an amazing list of movies under his belt. “What’s Eating Gilbert Grape, Chocolat, Cider House Rules, Walk The Line” to name a few! To be honest, I found myself a little nervous and in awe when prepping to speak with him. A feeling that he quickly put a stop to with his welcoming sense of humor and down to earth personality. He shared with us his first day walking onto a movie set (as a grip). Also, how grateful he is to the people who opened doors for him to produce. It was interesting to hear how choosing to work on comedic films compares to some of his previous more serious films. How the laughter and happy work atmosphere drew him to produce the successful Blue Collar Comedy Tour. And YES, there will be another one! I enjoyed my time meeting and talking with Alan, (that’s right I can call him Alan, now that we’re Facebook Friends!). I enjoyed listening to his thoughts on current changes in the film industry, as a fellow Michigander particularly his thoughts on state film incentives. By the end of the day I left the set feeling very inspired, not only in anticipation of the movie Tooth Fairy 2 which is sure to be a family hit, but inspired to know that behind the film are some pretty great people.
