Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides set sail on DVD, stunning high definition Blu-ray™, eye popping Blu-ray 3D™ (a first for the legendary franchise) and Movie Download on October 18, 2011 !

Produced by Jerry Bruckheimer and directed by Rob Marshall, “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides” captures the fun, adventure and humor that ignited the hit franchise—this time in Disney Digital 3D™. Johnny Depp returns to his role of Captain Jack Sparrow in an action-packed adventure. Crossing paths with the enigmatic Angelica (Penélope Cruz), he’s not sure if it’s love—or if she’s a ruthless con artist who’s using him to find the fabled Fountain of Youth.

We are really big Pirates of the Caribbean fans in our house. So when I was asked to hold a Pirates of the Caribbean on Stranger Tides Blu-ray release party, I was more than thrilled. I immediately started planning a swashbuckling good time for our daughter and friends. Our party included all kinds of pirate fun. Everything from dressing like pirates while watching the movie, decorating treasure chests, to carving pumpkins. The kids (and parents) had a great time!

Movie review:
First, I would like to say that this is one of the most beautifully filmed movies I’ve seen on Blu-ray since purchasing our Blu-ray player in 2010. Some scenes are so vibrant that they are truly breathtaking.

Being the fourth Pirates of the Caribbean installment, I wasn’t so sure just where the story could go that the first three haven’t. Of course being big fans of the first three, I knew this was going to be a movie my family would be watching together, and that always makes it a good time. Turns out that this installment in my opinion is just as much, if not more enjoyable than the previous two. The adventures of Jack Sparrow and his vast array of piratey cohorts are definitely not wearing thin on me or my family. Even though Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley where nowhere to been seen, this cast had no problems carrying the movie. Along with the return of Goeffrey Rush, reprising his role as Barbossa, we gain Ian McShane as Blackbeard and Penelope Cruz as a smart and sassy, past conquest of Jack’s. Also keep your eyes out for the talented and scene stealing Richard Griffiths in a brief but wonderful turn as King George. This movie should not be over looked. If you’ve enjoyed the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise thus far, you’re going to love on Stranger Tides and all of its swashbuckling fun and swagger. Pirates of the Caribbean on Stranger Tides is rated PG-13. I don’t recommend this movie for any younger.
