Thinking Outside the Box With eBay Green Team

These days my family puts real effort into living more “green”. It was only a few years ago that I thought living green meant simply recycling our aluminum cans. Now that we’ve taken the time to educate our-selves, we’re making more green choices every day. From how we pack our groceries, to double thinking before hitting the print button. We’ve learned that it all adds up, and it all matters.

Selling and buying on eBay is the ultimate in living green. Resale, not retail when ever possible is not only beneficial to your budget, but also to the environment. New to me is the eBay reusable box, designed by the eBay Green Team. This takes two of my favorite things (eBay & selling) and makes for a more green choice when it comes to shipping.

While I’m about to list a dozen or so items on eBay this week, I’m pretty excited to have one of these boxes in my possession.

Three facts about eBay’s award winning “simple green shipping” reusable box;

1. The eBay Box is a durable, reusable box made from environmentally-friendly materials. If every box from the pilot program gets reused at least five times, it could protect nearly 4,000 trees, save 2.4 million gallons of water and conserve enough energy to power 49 homes for a year.

2. The box is designed to be convenient as possible to ship items sold on eBay.

3. The eBay Box program encourages eBay buyers and sellers to keep their shipping boxes traveling. Each box offers a space inside to write a personal message to the next person in the chain, giving every box a life of its very own. The history of each box can also be tracked through a virtual community where buyers and sellers can connect online.

Not only making shipping more green, but more fun too. I’m looking forward to seeing where my box travels over time.
