The Odd Life of #TimothyGreen – Online Q&A Chat w/ Jennifer Garner

I recently had the pleasure of joining a select group of bloggers for a live Q&A with actress Jennifer Garner. Due to some technological issues the sound was pretty sketchy through most of the interview. Yet, the one thing that came through loud and clear is that Jennifer Garner is just a genuine, nice person. She’s an A list actress who puts her family first!

Jennifer more than once referenced her awe and appreciation for “Mommy Bloggers”, and her uncertainty of how we tackle so much. Even making reference to “Mommy Bloggers” taking over the world, as there are now so many.

Below are just a couple of the questions I was able to note during our time with Jennifer.

Why did you chose to pursue an acting career?
“I didn’t necessarily choose it. Its how I spent my time – taking ballet and being a “local theater rat” when I was a kid. In college I switched from a chemistry major to theater. I ended up doing some free acting gigs during my summer breaks. One thing just lead to another.. fast forward to today.”

How do you choose what movies to be a part of?
“There’s so much that goes into choosing a movie. First of all, I have to love it. I have to really really love it. Probably writing is my favorite thing. Then, who the director is, is obviously important. You guys can’t imagine how important a director is and what a difference it makes. Well, I’m sure you can – you’ve seen a lot of movies, but the director just changes everything. Then it’s where does it shoot, what’s happening with my kids, can my husband be around? Do we need to be somewhere for him, do I need to be home because he’s working? You know – it’s a lot. It’s tricky, but it works.”

What do you hope people will take away from The Odd Life of Timothy Green?
“Gosh, I would love you to take away that we need to live in the moment more, and judge our kids less, and judge ourselves less as moms. That we’re all trying our hardest, and its a really tough job and we’re figuring it out as we go along and that’s okay.”

She describes The Odd Life of Timothy Green as a heart warming and lovely fantasy. Which is pretty much as I would describe my first impression of Jennifer Garner.

The Odd Life of Timothy Green is in theaters now!
Academy Award®–nominated director/writer Peter Hedges (“Dan in Real Life,” What’s Eating Gilbert Grape”) brings enchantment to the screen with “The Odd Life of Timothy Green.” It’s the inspiring, magical story of a happily married couple, Cindy and Jim Green (Jennifer Garner and Joel Edgerton), who can’t wait to start a family but can only dream about what their child would be like. When young Timothy (CJ Adams) shows up on their doorstep one stormy night, Cindy and Jim—and their small town of Stanleyville—learn that sometimes the unexpected can bring some of life’s greatest gifts.

Jealous that you got to do this – I wanted to but was working then. LOVED her in Alias and I try to see any movie she’s in as she’s not in a ton nowadays.
