Going places with the 2015 Mitsubishi Outlander SE

I recently spent a week driving the 2015 Mitsubishi Outlander SE. And when I say “driving”, I mean driving… We drove from Detroit, Mi to Sandusky, Oh, for an overnight stay at Cedar Point, from there to Cleveland, Oh, to visit the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, and then back home to the Detroit area. It was our roller coasters, and rocks stars road trip. It was so much fun, and we did it on only one tank of gas!

The recently redesigned Mitsubishi Outlander – an IIHS “Top Safety Pick” – is a roomy crossover with advanced safety features. Featuring up to 31mpg highway, the Outlander is fuel efficient and has a host of standard features at an affordable price.

Equally impressive are the 2015 Mitsubishi Outlander SE features that made our trip comfortable. One-touch Start, Power remote tailgate, Underfloor cargo area storage. Nice, wide cup holders in the front, as well as in the back. Automatic climate control. Plenty of leg space, Digital HD Radio, and our teenagers favorite:

710-watt Rockford-Fosgate® premium sound system with 9 speakers including 10-inch dual-voice coil subwoofer with Punch Control®, DTS® Neural Surround, PremiDIA-WIDE surround, and Dolby® Volume

Mechanical features:
Continuously Variable Transmission, 6-speed automatic transmission and a 2.4L MIVEC SOHC 16-valve 4-cylinder engine. Providing 25 city/31 highway gas mileage, per the Mitsubishi website, but I feel we did even better during our road trip that was mostly highway.

If you’re carting around precious cargo like this, safety ratings and features are a real priority.

The 2015 Mitsubishi Outlander SE, has a 4 Star Overall NHTSA safety rating!

Impressive safety features:
Forward Collision Mitigation system
Rain-sensing windshield wipers
Side curtain airbags
Front seat-mounted side airbags
Driver’s knee airbag
Advanced dual-stage front airbags
Anti-theft engine immobilizer
Lane Departure Warning system (I love this feature)
Three-point seatbelts and head restraints for all seating positions

My over-all thoughts on the 2015 Mitsubishi Outlander SE:
I love the size of this vehicle. I found it very easy and enjoyable to drive, with very little to no blind spots. The USB port and Bluetooth hands-free phone system is a feature I really appreciate. Any features that keep my eyes on the road, are just as important to me as the outstanding safely rating. The Mitsubishi Outlander SE was a nice smooth ride during our road trip, but it did seem to struggle some as we drove onto highway ramps to merge, and several times while changing lanes.

The positivity definitely out shines the negative when it comes to the 2015 Mitsubishi Outlander SE, and I would recommend it to a family of 4 or less. Or as an excellent second vehicle.
