My Friend Cayla, a new interactive doll review & giveaway

Our granddaughter recently turned eight. She is now at that age that when she comes to visit she needs to keep busy. Becca still being a fan of dolls really helps, as does her love for technology. We recently received “My Friend Cayla” for Becca to review. Cayla is the world’s first interactive doll. She thinks, reacts and plays with kids using a downloadable app.

Interactive Doll

Even though the package makes some pretty big claims of what Cayla can do, one look and I knew our granddaughter was going to love her. Interactive or not. I couldn’t wait for Becca to get started.

I downloaded the My Friend Cayla app from Google’s Play Store onto my smartphone. It took us a few tries to get the connection to sync with the doll, as it does with most blutooth devices. Once she was connected it was smooth sailing. The app is super easy to use, Becca had no problems using it without me. Cayla’s voice is very easy to understand which is nice for a tech toy. She created hours of fun during Becca’s recent visit. Becca and Cayla played tic-tac-toe, and together told a few stories, like Little Mermaid. She also enjoyed asking Cayla a ton of questions and listening to her answers. Several times Becca told us how much she loves Cayla, and how she is sooooo much fun. The fun part for me is knowing she is just getting started. Just wait until Becca discovers that Cayla can help her with school work, and that she also can speak Spanish. She is one smart doll!

Just as I suspected, Becca loves Cayla even without being connected to the app. I have to give this doll a great review. She is very creative, promotes thinking, seems to be well made and so far Becca does not want to put her down. Sounds like winner to me.
