The Hyundai Santa Fe Sport 2.0T , brings comfort & safety to our family camping trip

We recently put the Hyundai Santa Fe Sport 2.0T to the test of a four day family camping trip. Our trip included, two adults, two teenagers, two tents, four days of clothes, and a whole lot of camping gear.

The Hyundai Santa Fe Sport hatch did not disappoint, as you can see, we left nothing behind. We even used the Under-Rear-Cargo-Floor Storage Compartment for smaller items.

Our campground is a five hour drive away from home, so we were able to put a lot of Hyundai’s features to the test. Our favorites right out of the driveway were the Proximity Key Entry With Push Button Start, 4.3-inch touchscreen color audio system with rearview camera, Bluetooth® hands-free phone system, and Smartphone®/USB and auxiliary input jacks. We were able to access our own music and enjoy it through the awesome Infinity® Logic Surround Sound while on the road.

Hyundai Santa Fe Sport also has a long list of features to make time on the road comfortable, and enjoyable. Below is a list of five of our favorites.

  1. Panoramic sunroof. It was a beautiful day, so we all enjoyed the sunshine and fresh air.
  2. 8-way power driver seat with 4-way power lumbar support. Sure made our five hour drive more comfortable.
  3. Dual front automatic temperature control. My husband and I seldom agree on a temperature, so this feature made us both happy.
  4. Manual rear side window sunshades. The teenagers were all about napping while we drove. They loved the sunshades!
  5. Rear cup-holders, seatback pockets, and an armrest added a lot of convenient storage to the second row.

Every Santa Fe engine is mated to Hyundai’s 6-speed automatic transmission with SHIFTRONIC®. Plus all models have the Active ECO System. With the push of a button, it improves the performance of the transmission to help you get more miles out of every gallon of gas. We were real happy to see 25 MPG on the highway. Which is excellent for a packed to the rim SUV of this size.

Let’s talk safety!

Blind Spot Detection with Rear Cross-traffic Alert helps detect when a vehicle is in the driver’s blind spot and provides both an audible and a visual alert to help keep you aware as you move down the road. When reverse gear is selected, Rear Cross-traffic Alert helps identify and warn the driver of vehicles approaching from the side.

Traction Control System (TCS) works in tandem with Electronic Stability Control (ESC), TCS limits power and applies brakes to individual wheels to reduce the occurrence of wheelspin, and routes power to the wheel with the most traction.

Seven airbags. Seven! Including a driver’s knee airbag.

The Hyundai Santa Fe Sport 2.0T comes with a five star safety rating. Giving us as much peace of mind, as it does modern technology and comfort.

We really enjoyed our week with The Hyundai Santa Fe Sport 2.0T, and even though I had my doubts while in the city, this was one of the most enjoyable vehicles that we have driven to our campground yet. While there we were able to attend a beautiful firework display over Lake Huron. It was nice not fighting the crowd for a place to sit. The hatch on the Santa Fe, and blanket for two made for the best seat on the grounds.

The Hyundai Santa Fe Sport 2.0T was perfect for our family camping trip, but just didn’t suit me for everyday city life. I found it to be a little sluggish at times, and not as good on gas mileage as I’d hoped. Though it may not be a vehicle I would personally purchase, it very well could be right for you. I recommend a good test drive before deciding. Visit the Hyundai official website for more details and to find a deal near you.
