Comcast making an aggressive effort to improve on customer service experience

Comcast announced it will fill nearly 400 new positions in Michigan over the next 12 months. More than 300 of the new jobs are customer care roles that will support service-related inquiries for subscribers at the company’s call centers in Ann Arbor, Plymouth and Sterling Heights. The company also has openings at its service centers and in technical operations, marketing and sales to support residential and business customers.

“Our company has deep roots here in Michigan that go back several decades,” said Tim Collins, regional senior vice president for Comcast in Michigan. “By adding nearly 400 new jobs to the existing 4,300 employees within the state, we’re reaffirming our commitment to this region while sending a clear message that customer satisfaction is our top priority.”

Comcast’s aggressive hiring efforts support the company’s nationwide focus on improving the customer service experience, which includes:

  • Hiring 5,500 new workers over the next three years and adding three new call centers, part of a $300 million investment being made in 2015.
  • Investing in technology and training to give employees the tools they need to deliver excellent service.
  • Simplifying billing and creating better policies for customers.
  • Renovating hundreds of stores across the country and developing new technologies that will let customers interact with us at their convenience.
Offering an app that allows customers to view the status of their Comcast technician and rate their appointments, and a $20 credit when a technician is late or doesn’t show up.
  • Tripling the size of its social care team to serve customers more quickly.

This is great news from Comcast! Since my family has upgraded to the Xfinity x1 Platform we have experienced nothing but the highest quality of products and customer service. Though, I do love it when a large company recognizes that there is room for improvement. Way to go Comcast!

I love the X1 platform 🙂 makes my life super easy.

ALSO they just opened an Xfinity store in Troy, in the Walmart plaza, which is definitely convenient for me.

  2. That does sound amazing, you know, this could really work! It is a big investment, I’m sure they want to get results!

Comcast needs to improve on Customer service and help their customers when they need them. I have a hard time getting help on the phone where I live. But I am glad they are hiring new workers. Good for the economy!

  4. Glad to hear that they are committed to providing good customer support. I have been a Comcast customer for years (with a short time away when I tried out AT&T and hated it). I recently switched over to the X1 platform and I simply love it! I love the customer service center in Troy and their helpful people. The gal there suggested that I probably wouldn’t need a recording DVD in my bedroom, which was true, and saved me money. This option wasn’t even mentioned by the person originally taking my change request. I am able to record everything that I want to watch from my main dvd recorder in my family room and enjoy it from my bedroom tv. She was also so nice to allow me to go home and get my modem (which the person on the phone didn’t tell me I would have to also exchange), then not have to stand in a long line when I came back with it. Now THAT’S customer service!

  5. We do not have comcast in my area but we have Time Warner cable and they have all the service perks you mention as well.

  6. Awesome to hear that they are taking customer service to heart. I have had negative experiences in the past with companies like this that fail to think about and focus on this.

  7. I worked at At&T for years. I know Xfinity is a great company to work for and pay well.

  8. Comcast is making strides towards better service.

We’ve had Comcast for years, and while the actual service has been fine, when the off times it hasn’t and we’ve had to call, our customer service experience has been horrible. Luckily everything works fine for the most part.
