Cedar Point is open for the season and the new roller coaster, Valravn brings a whole new level of thrills to the park. Guests will face their fears face first when they ride the new Valravn dive coaster.

Cedar Point’s 18th roller coaster stands an impressive 223 feet above the midway featuring one of the most unique elements on any roller coaster – the hold and dive. As guests crest the massive lift hill, they’ll be treated to a breathtaking view of Lake Erie and the world-famous Cedar Point skyline. Then, the train pauses before dropping, holding its passengers for four seconds as they stare down at the journey before them. Once released from Valravn’s grasp, riders will reach a top speed of 75 mph as they’re flipped head-over-heels through three inversions and will also plummet in a second dive toward the ground.

Valravn is the signature 100th roller coaster designed by the world-renowned, creative masters at Bolliger & Mabillard (B & M) in Monthey, Switzerland. Valravn’s mere presence at Cedar Point shatters an impressive 10 world records, including:

  1. Tallest Dive Coaster (223 feet)
  2. Fastest Dive Coaster (75 mph)
  3. Longest Dive Coaster (3,415 feet)
  4. Most Inversions on a Dive Coaster
  5. (3)Longest Drop on a Dive Coaster (214 feet)
  6. Highest Inversion on a Dive Coaster (165 feet)
  7. Most Roller Coasters Taller Than 200 Feet at One Amusement Park (5)
  8. Most Rides at One Amusement Park (71)
  9. Most Steel Roller Coaster Track at One Amusement Park (52,125 feet/9.9 miles)
  10. Most Roller Coaster Track at One Amusement Park (60,110/11.4 miles)

“Valravn continues our legacy of world-class roller coasters at Cedar Point,” said Jason McClure, vice president and general manager of Cedar Point. “The riding experience has exceeded our expectations, and we cannot wait for our guests to get their first rides on the king of all dive coasters this summer.” -CP

Oh man, I don’t think that I am brave enough to ride the Valravn. Though, I remember saying the same thing about the Millennium Force when it was new. Now it’s one of my favorite rides in the park. So, I guess I’ll see what happens when I am there in-person.

Living in Michigan, I’ve been enjoying trips to Cedar Point for as long as I can remember. I have a lot of fun memories of being there as a kid, and over the past two decades have created some even better memories with my girls. Even though, we couldn’t make it to opening day this year, I’m sure there is a trip to Sandusky in our near future. We always have a great time at Cedar Point.

I can’t really get on that kind of ride. My first and probably my last ride was on a ferris wheel and it has been many years ago.

  20. Wow and woah. Babushka’s a fan of roller coasters, but that one makes me think twice. Thrice. Oh My.
