Exciting New XFINITY Wi-Fi Outdoor Hotspots in Michigan

Comcast recently announced that it has installed nearly 700 new XFINITY Wi-Fi outdoor hotspots in Ann Arbor, Detroit, Grosse Pointe, Royal Oak and St. Clair Shores. With 654,000 total XFINITY Wi-Fi hotpots statewide, Comcast offers more coverage than any other provider in Michigan, ensuring customers have the fastest available online experience in their home, at work and in popular outdoor areas.

Additional XFINITY Wi-Fi outdoor hotspots will launch across other Michigan communities later this year. This announcement complements Comcast’s thousands of existing residential and business hotspots in the area, which most XFINITY Internet customers can access at no additional cost.

“We’re a mobile-centric society with an insatiable appetite for staying connected all the time, everywhere,” said Tim Collins, Comcast senior vice president in Michigan. “These outdoor hotspots offer our customers even more value from their XFINITY service by letting them connect to family, friends, information and entertainment like never before.”

Finding the nearest XFINITY Wi-Fi hotspot

Most XFINITY Internet customers can access XFINITY Wi-Fi hotspots by selecting “xfinitywifi” from the list of available networks on their laptops or mobile devices and entering their Comcast email and password. The XFINITY Wi-Fi App, available for download on both iOS and Android devices, makes it easy to locate business and outdoor hotspots, or customers can visit the hotspot finder map online at www.xfinity.com/wifi.

Non-customers can also access the company’s new outdoor hotspots. Comcast offers two, 60-minute complimentary sessions per month. After that, non-customers can purchase hourly, daily, weekly or monthly access passes.

Living in Michigan, this is exciting news. I often have to check and respond to work emails while on the go. This is going to make my life a lot easier.

  1. I just wanted to say how convenient these hotspots are. When I was visiting Royal Oak for week-long visits, I was able to connect for a small fee because the relative I was staying with had no internet. Very convenient! They even give you 2 one hour blocks for free per month.
