Between being a mom, having a full time job, a blog, and keeping up with the household, my life has been crazy busy lately. As hectic as my schedule can get, being a mom is by far the most important job on my list. So time spend with my girls is precious. Here are my tips on planning the perfect mother/daughter day.

Plan ahead
Make sure your workload is covered so you are not receiving phone calls or checking your email all day. The best mother/daughter days are spent with both of you being present. Make a store run for special treats, like ice cream and a movie. You never know how the day will end.

Get out of the house
All time spent together is great, but getting out and breaking your normal just makes the day a lot better.

Visit the salon
Our favorite is to get side by side pedicures. There is something magical about getting a pedicure. It’s just so indulgent, and relaxing. Puts us both in our happy place.

Take her to lunch
We often have some of our best conversations over food. Make sure to chose one of her favorite restaurants. Bonding over food works best when you both enjoy what you are eating.

We finished our mother/daughter day with a little shopping. It was perfect. A day filled with talking, listening and laughing. Each equally important when you are a parent to a teenager. I learn so much about my daughter during these days. I can’t believe how fast she is growing up.

At the end of the day, we were very thankful for the treats. As great as our day was, we were tired! It was nice to be home, with our pretty pedicured feet up, ready for some ice cream and movie.

I picked up Häagen-Dazs® Ice Cream pints (Strawberry & Butter Pecan) and Häagen-Dazs® Ice Cream Bars (Vanilla Milk Chocolate Almond). I found them in the ice cream isle at Walmart.

I also picked up a fun chick-flick from Redbox. I love that Redbox has so many convenient location. This one was in the lobby as I left Walmart. Sure was a time saver.

Being a mom is a full time job on it’s own. Add all of the other jobs that my life brings, it can be pretty hard to keep up. To stay a float, it’s important for me to make time for a “me moment”. Time to enjoy life’s little indulgences. It’s the “me moment”, the #Aah at the end of the day keeps me recharged and ready to start it all over again tomorrow.

Wow this is the best mother / daughter day I’ve ever heard. It is hard sometimes to find something enjoyable to both people of different ages, and you found a whole day and evening of it! You daughter is a sweetheart, too! And you are mom of the year!

  9. Haagen Dazs is my favorite ice cream brand. Vanilla flavor as simple as it is, it’s still my all time fave. Great giveaway because ice cream and Netflix definitely go together 🙂

  10. I look forward to having some mommy-daughter time when my little princess gets older. Getting mani-pedis, shopping, and just hearing about teenage life. I have quite a few years to go but ice cream and Netflix work well with a 4 year old right now!

  11. How fun! I loved doing this with my mom and I look forward to many mom and daughter dates with my daughter too! She is only 3 right nwo but we still go and get her nails painted. She loves it! Enjoy your time!

Hagan Daz is the way to go for ice cream. Pairing it with redbox would make for an ideal mother daughter night! I am going to have to make plans with my daughter to spend some quality time together!

  13. Now that is my kind of mother/daughter day! I think it is wonderful that you took the time to spend alone time with your daughter. Movies, Ice Cream and a Mani/Pedi is a recipe for great memories and conversations.

  14. My daughter is just 6 years old but we do mother daughter day too. Usually, it’s a movie, lunch, dessert and sometimes I let her pick out something new. She loves pretty clips and bows so that’s usually her choice. Ice cream is always on her agenda too. LOL

  15. Katy says:

This is a great post. Our daughter is only 2-1/2, but I remember all too well the strained teen years with my mom. Talking, listening, laughing and really getting to understand each other are just so important! I’m a huge Hagen Daas fan, by the way. Sometimes nothing else can beat their coffee ice cream!

  16. Marti Tabora says:

I love the free movie code and these are all definitely great tips and ideas. There isn’t much better than ice cream and a movie.

  17. Katie H says:

I’ll have to share the ideas with my sister for her tween. Would be a great day for them too! Looks like you two had fun.

  18. I must be weird because I’ve always liked hanging out with my mom. These are some great ideas though.

Butter Pecan lovers unite! Seriously, I will have a teen next year. We love doing mommy/daughter days. It gives us time to reconnect and work through anything that might need to be addressed. She has my undivided attention, and I think it is definitely a confidence booster for her.

  20. Mother and daughter day is a great idea.
