DIY Patriotic Cat Cave & Help Cats in Need #CatsForFreedom

DIYcatcave_001

You may be familiar with Tipsy Elves from ABC’s hit show Shark Tank. Turns out they’re not just a Christmas sweater company. With emphasis on the ‘tipsy’, they have strive to embody the fun holiday spirit no matter the month. Which is why, as America searches for its next president, like most of us, they have been shocked to see some of the unsettling headlines being published on the internet.

In an effort to bring good vibes and fun times back they recently launched a new initiative called #CatsForFreedom which is a whole lot of fun, and will be raising money the San Diego Humane Society.

So, what is #CatsForFreedom exactly? Tipsy Elves would like cat owners to purchase one of their Patriotic Tops (http://www.tipsyelves.com/mens-american-flag-clothing) to create their own Cat Cave, and share it online in an attempt to replace the unpleasant political headlines with some Tipsy Elves ‘paws-itivity’.

Only our feline friends are frisky enough to captivate the internet with such fervor. What is a Cat Cave you ask? It may look like a box with a shirt over it, but it’s so much more. It’s a symbol; a beacon of hope: https://youtu.be/lxR6kFBeXU0

The #CatsForFreedom campaign has our Raphael’s name all of it! He is a fun loving cat that LOVES to crawl inside anything and everything he can fit into. He also spends time trying to fit into things he can’t – like my purse.

We recently received a Patriotic Top from Tipsy Elves to give the #CatsForFreedom DIY Cat Cave a try.

It was super easy and took only minutes.

  1. Find a medium size box.
  2. Slide the shirt over the box, positioning the neck hole in the center of the box opening.
  3. Pull the shirt tight, and tie the bottom to keep it in place.
  4. Tuck in the sleeves.
  5. Set it down and wait. It took about three minutes for Raphael to find it and go inside.

What a great idea to help raise money for Sand Diego Humane Society. Your Cat cave looks really cool and I like your cat peeking out with Roxy right next to the box.

  6. What a great idea. My cats always find great hiding places, especially in the kids toy boxes. We should make their own little hide outs. I am sure my kids would love this idea.

My friend has a lot of cats and I know this would be a great tutorial to show her, I will have to share it. Thanks for showing us how to do this!

  8. ‘Paws-itivity!’ Come on! That’s too cute!!! To be honest, it did look like just a box, but once I learned more I was totally on board! If I had a cat I would be getting one 😉

  9. I really love this idea! My son has been asking for a cat for the longest time and this is such a cute idea to do for when we finally get one. I really like your idea, too. It’s so easy to do and definitely something that would make a nice little cave for your cat.
