Comcast X1 DVR With Cloud Technology, Available Now In Michigan

Comcast just announced that its X1 customers across Michigan can now download programs they have recorded on their digital video recorder (DVR) to watch on IP-enabled devices, such as laptops, tablets and smartphones, or stream them using an Internet connection, anytime and anywhere.

The new service, called X1 DVR with Cloud Technology, provides customers access to virtually their entire TV channel lineup on any connected screen, such as mobile devices and computers, in their home.

“There’s been a significant shift in how people are consuming their favorite programming,” said Tim Collins, senior vice president of Comcast’s Heartland region, which includes Michigan. “Consumers want flexibility to watch TV shows and movies anywhere, anytime and on any device. X1 DVR with Cloud Technology provides more value to our customers.

In particular, families are taking their last summer get-away and football tailgate season is upon us. As more people consume TV in different places and on different screens, this new service gives them another opportunity to catch-up on their favorite shows when they have down time, like during long car rides or waiting for kickoff.

For my family, we love that we can now take our X1 lineup with us to the campground. Because everything is more fun while camping. Even watching tv. We camp a few weeks out of the year, rain or shine. So, we always pack plenty of snacks, playing cards, board games, a laptop and tablet to be prepared for rain or cold weather. Believe me, we’ve had them both! One time we even woke up to a little snow on the ground.

To deliver these new features to Xfinity TV customers, Comcast has launched an Xfinity TV app for iOS and Android tablets and smartphones, and a dedicated portal for viewing on computers. To live stream their TV lineups or watch DVR and On Demand programming while on tablets or smartphones in their homes, customers can simply download the Xfinity TV app from the App Store, open the app and sign-in with their Xfinity TV credentials.

X1 customers get 500 Gigabytes of storage and have the ability to record up to six shows at once. Existing customers on the company’s legacy TV platform can enjoy X1 DVR with Cloud Technology and streaming services by upgrading to the X1 Entertainment Operating System. Existing X1 customers can contact Comcast to add the new service to their account.
