Himalayan Salt Lamp Review

salt lamp review

It’s no secret that I have been struggling with stress, insomnia and a little anxiety lately. Hence, my lack of blog updates. The thing is, I don’t really have a reason to be feeling this way. My life is actually pretty amazing. Turns out what I have been feeling is all part of that lovely gift us women receive as we age, often in our late forties and early fifties.

We are all about keeping things natural around here. We do our best to not take medications, even over the counter options, unless they are totally necessary. Which is pretty rare.

I have been hearing a lot about the benefits of salt lamps. The way they work is when the crystallized salt, mined from the Himalayan Mountains, is heated by the bulb inside, negative ions are released, they can reduce allergy and asthma symptoms, ease coughing, help people sleep better, and enhance relaxation and release tension throughout the body. It is said that they even increase energy levels.

I recently received the above salt lamp from the Himalayan Salt Shop to review. I was really close to buying one myself, so this review could not have come at a better time.

I have been using it everyday for the past three weeks. I leave it plugged in and on pretty much 24/7. It sits on the end table near where I most often sit to read, watch TV and work. I love it. It’s very pretty to look at, and the glow really is calming. I have been sleeping significantly better, and feeling a lot less stressed. Do I have the lamp to thank? I’m thinking so. Though, I can’t honestly say for sure. I’m definitely not going to turn it off and find out. In-fact I’m thinking of ordering a second one for our bedroom.

I like the bowl shaped salt lamps too.

I am now fascinated by Himalayan Salt lamps!
It amazes me that they are made of actual salt that has been chipped from the base of the Himalayan mountains. The salt contains 84 different minerals. Light heats the salt causing it to emit negative ions like those found at the ocean, after a thunderstorm or at a waterfall. How cool is that!?

The Himalayan Salt Shop was founded in 2006 by Ernest Gaglione in the basement of a two family house in Bloomfield, NJ. Originally, Ernest had to lug his heavy inventory up and down steep basement stairs as he personally shipped each customer’s order. As his company grew through hard work and perseverance, Ernest reached the point where he could afford a small office space in Parsippany, NJ. Ernest continued to expand by employing a fulfillment center to help with the shipping of orders.

Today the Himalayan Salt Shop is one of the biggest internet retailers of authentic Himalayan salt crystal products. Stay up to date with news and sales by signing up for the Himalayan Salt Shop newsletter.
