Our Fifty Shades Darker Masquerade-themed Party & Spicy Red Room Punch Recipe

Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson return as Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele in Fifty Shades Darker, the second chapter based on the worldwide bestselling “Fifty Shades” phenomenon. The new installment arrives for Valentine’s Day and invites you to slip into something a shade darker.

“When a wounded Christian Grey tries to entice a cautious Ana Steele back into his life, she demands a new arrangement before she will give him another chance. As the two begin to build trust and find stability, shadowy figures from Christian’s past start to circle the couple, determined to destroy their hopes for a future together.”

Also returning from Fifty Shades of Grey are Academy Award® winner Marcia Gay Harden, Jennifer Ehle, Victor Rasuk, Luke Grimes, Rita Ora, Eloise Mumford and Max Martini, who are joined for the first time by Oscar® winner Kim Basinger, Bella Heathcote and Eric Johnson.

Fifty Shades Darker is directed by James Foley (Fear, House of Cards) and once again produced by Michael De Luca, Dana Brunetti and Marcus Viscidi, alongside E L James, the creator of the culture-spanning blockbuster series. The screenplay is by Niall Leonard, based on the novel by James.

To celebrate this upcoming steamy release, I recently received some items from Universal Pictures to help me put together a little Fifty Shades Darker Masquerade Party of my own. At first I wasn’t sure that I could pull it off. It took less than an hour and very little convincing, and I had five friends excited to come over.

We had so much fun! We enjoyed decadent horderves before dinner, and tantalizing desserts after, including a dozen gourmet cupcakes, each frosted a different shade of grey. I was also able to share nice swag bags filled with movie themed goodies, including t-shirts, lip balm, and the Fifty Shades Darker movie tie book with my friends. Oh, and yeah there were awesome, glam photo props. Did I mention we had fun?

For the wine lovers, we shared a bottle of Fifty Shades of Grey White Wine, and for those that had to drive, sticking with the movie’s theme – a bottle of homemade Spicy Red Room Punch.

Spicy Red Room Punch:
Part cranberry-rasp juice
Part black tea
A splash of apple juice
A dash of equal parts cinnamon and clove spice

Are you a Fifty Shades of Grey movie fan? I didn’t think I was, until a few of my friends recently talked me into watching the first movie. Wow! It was so good. Now, I can’t wait to see Fifty Shades Darker when it opens in theaters February 10th. It’s going to make such a fun girls night out, or even a sexy date night. Either way, I know I will be seeing this one on the big screen.
