“With an all-star cast led by Robert DeNiro, Katherine Heigl, Diane Keaton, Amanda Seyfried, Topher Grace, with Susan Sarandon and Robin Williams, THE BIG WEDDING is an uproarious romantic comedy about a charmingly modern family trying to survive a weekend wedding celebration that has the potential to become a full blown family fiasco. To the amusement of their adult children and friends, long divorced couple Don and Ellie Griffin (De Niro and Keaton) are once again forced to play the happy couple for the sake of their adopted son’s wedding after his ultra conservative biological mother unexpectedly decides to fly halfway across the world to attend. With all of the wedding guests looking on, the Griffins are hilariously forced to confront their past, present and future – and hopefully avoid killing each other in the process. Screenplay by Justin Zackham. Directed by Justin Zackham.”

Trailer Park Tuesday, The Hangover Part III

The_Hangover_Part_III_10

This time, there’s no wedding. No bachelor party. What could go wrong, right? But when the Wolfpack hits the road, all bets are off.

Director: Todd Phillips

Cast: Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms, Zach Galifianakis, Ken Jeong, Heather Graham, Jeffrey Tambor, Justin Bartha, John Goodman, Sasha Barrese, Gillian Vigman and Jamie Chung

Even though I didn’t care for The Hangover Part 2, I enjoyed the first movie enough to know I’ll be giving this one a shot. That, and the trailer looks hilarious to me. Can’t wait to see my girl Melissa McCarthy’s full cameo.

Our thoughts:
We watched Parental Guidance during our most recent Family Movie Night. Even though my husband dragged his feet a little on watching this movie, it was a great choice. The mix of parenthood, and childlike behavior is always fun to watch and laugh at with our daughter. Much to my surprise, I found my self identifying a little with the grandparents. Honestly, I didn’t find them very odd – funny, yes, but not exactly what I was expecting from seeing the trailer. The whole cast brought plenty of laugh out-loud moments and heartwarming moments to the story. Some of which were pretty predictable, yet just as entertaining. This is a movie I’m happy to have added to our home collection, as I see us watching it again, maybe the next time our parents are over for a visit.

The Blu-ray special features are also pretty entertaining. Definitely worth the time to check out. I mean, who doesn’t love a fun gag reel?

DIY Tips For Weddings #TheBigWedding

In anticipation of Lionsgate’s upcoming film, “The Big Wedding” below is a fun list of DIY tips to make your big day even more special.

Every bride wants her wedding to be unique, and what better way than with some DIY flair. From place cards to centerpieces, favors to thank you notes, DIY tricks are a fun way to get everyone involved in the planning process and add a one-of-a-kind flair to a dream wedding.

Unique Centerpieces:
To add a little personal touch to your decorations, why not create a centerpiece that is not only beautiful, but meaningful to you and your fiance. If you are wine connoisseurs, why not fill vases with wine corks from your favorite bottles? Don’t have that many left over corks? Ask local restaurants or hotels to save some corks for you. Want some extra flair? Buy a small glass cylinder to put in the middle and add a small candle, creating the perfect romantic mood. Wine not your thing? Fill glasses with colored sand and tie ribbons or burlap around the center that showcase your personal style. Having a beach themed wedding? Collect seashells and sea glass to put into clear containers for the ideal beachy feeling. Still need some extra light? Fill flatter, rounder serving dishes with water to float tea candles and your goodies from the beach!

Decorate Your Candles:
Love candles but hate how plain they look in contrast to the rest of your decorations? Buy glass cylinders to put them in and express yourself! Wrap the cylinder in fun fabric or ribbon to match your wedding colors, decorate with feathers, flowers, or rhinestones to create that unique look. You can even add your initials or stain the glass of the cylinder to create a colorful effect!

Get creative:
It may seem like a waste of time (since guests simply pick them up and plop them down on their lap), but taking the time to get creative with napkin folds also adds a nice touch. Learning how to do a whimsical napkin fold is a detail that makes a statement and impresses guests.

All three of the ideas above are pretty simple DIY ideas that will add personality and memorable details to your wedding day.

Let’s not forget the reception! Even a silly and fun parting gift full of ingredients for the perfect hangover cure—Advil, water, and the perfect Bloody Mary mix—is sure to make your wedding unforgettable.

Burt Wonderstone Movie Review

Steve Carell, Burt Wonderstone, Steve Buscemi, Jim Carrey

I was really looking forward to The Incredible Burt Wonderstone, and not just because it’s set in Vegas, (one of my favorite cities) and that I visited it in January. The cast is definitely A-list – it includes Steve Buscemi, Steve Carell, Olivia Wilde, James Gandolfini, and Jim Carrey, among others – and the trailer looked extremely funny. Unfortunately, Burt ended up being a case of all of its jokes being in the trailer, and the rest of the movie just being so-so.

Burt Wonderstone (Carell) decides at a young age that “magicians are cool,” and he becomes friends and magic partners with Anton Marvelton (Buscemi), after learning from an instructional video by Rance Holloway (Alan Arkin), a famous magician. Flash forward thirty years later, and the two have been the headlining act at Bally’s in Las Vegas for the past decade. Their boss and the owner of Bally’s, Doug Munny (Gandolfini), however, thinks that they need to do something new to draw in ticket sales, and they decide to do a public stunt, which of course goes awry, ending with Marvelton being injured and very angry at Burt. Burt tries to do their magic act alone (with hilarious results, actually), but of course it fails, since it’s a 2-person show, and Doug kicks him out. He’s left trying to decide if he even wants to do magic anymore, and trying to find as many gigs as he can; he ends up taking a regular gig at an assisted living home, where he runs into Rance Holloway, and the 10th birthday party of Doug’s son.

The iPhone
The iPhone is an Apple branded smartphone that made its market debut in 2007 and runs on the “iOS” or Apple operating system. iPhone features include: web browsing, video playback and recording, voice calling, instant messaging and more.

“LOL”
An acronym for laughing out loud or laugh out loud, “LOL” is perhaps the most ubiquitous word found in internet and text messaging slang. In fact, its use is so widespread that it is increasingly being exercised in face-to-face communication, now that’s “LOL” funny!

FTW!
A guy like Arnie should be about as familiar with this commonly used internet acronym as he is with who ‘s in the running for the World Series. “FTW” stands for

‘for the win’ and is typically used in conversations revolving around sports or debate. It would be in Arnie’s best interest to whip this term out in a conversation regarding his inability to keep up with the latest trends, FTW!

StumbleUpon
For a Grandfather, to stumble upon something is not usually a good thing but StumbleUpon is a site that virtually archives the best of everything anyone has ever stumbled upon on the internet. So, if grandpa happens upon a really interesting article, he can share it on StumbleUpon and allow others to check it out! Now that beats the physical injury that might have followed Grandpa’s traditional definition of stumbling upon something!

Facebook
Facebook is the largest online social network with over 1 billion users; the site is one of the best ways to connect with friends and family. Additionally, most businesses and entertainment personalities maintain accounts on the site and often host promotions for fans and consumers on Facebook. Grandpa might want to subscribe to his favorite baseball team’s page in order to stay updated on their latest events and news!

Twitter
Twitter is one of the ten most visited sites on the internet, all that’s need to join the site is an email address and password. Site users interact with one another through “tweets,” or 140 character messages, and are permitted to “follow” other users who they find interesting; it is important to note that Twitter’s subscribers include the Fresno Grizzlies!

Meetup
The Deckers may find that their new social media savvy motivates them to expand their social groups. Meetup.com is just the site to help with that endeavor and will allow Grandma and Grandpa to meet up with grandparents from all walks of life who share their interests. For Arnie that might mean reaching out to the Fresno baseball Meetup group! All that’s needed to join this site is an active email address for registration.
