Hurry, get to the Point! Cedar Point’s HalloWeekends is here! #BloggingatCP #Halloweekends

I’ve been going to Cedar Point for as long as I can remember. I’ve made some great memories being in the park with my family as a kid, with friends as a teen and over the last two decades with my girls, as a mom. If you know me offline or follow my social media updates closely, this is not news to you. From birthdays, summer celebrations, even a honeymoon – Cedar Point is our family’s go-to place for fun! Over the past few years my favorite time to visit the Point is now, during HalloWeekends!

HalloWeekends is when Halloween takes over Cedar Point, this year from September 12, through Saturday November 1. The thrills of the biggest and best coasters combine with spooky chills and monstrous fun. It’s a fun, family-friendly event during the day. Kids will love the Monster Midway Invasion Celebration parade (every weekend @5PM). BUT at night, look out as scary witches, zombies, skeletons, clowns and dead cowboys take over the place.

I’m not very brave, so I usually sit out on haunted houses, but the new Hexed haunted house was calling my name. That and I had my BFF to hold my hand. It definitely scared me, but I had a lot of fun as we walked through the dark, twisted house of witches. After 10PM may be too intense for anyone under the age of 13. Or even for a scarey-cat like me! If you follow me on Twitter or Instagram, then you might have seen my plea for help, as I sat trapped in the wooden tavern, listening to the screams, looking out into the red lit street, too scared to come out. Even though we all know it’s scenarios like this that kill off the weak in a horror movie – rest assured that I made it out and back to the “safe zone”, Camp Snoopy all in one piece. It’s all in good scary fun!

Cedar Point goes full force when it comes to celebrating Halloween! Packed with fun coasters and rides, Halloween family fun all day, and frightfully scary at night, HalloWeekends is Cedar point in it’s prime.

Open Friday nights from 6 to 11 p.m.; Saturdays from noon to midnight; and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Purchase your tickets online or at the gate.

You never know, you just might meet your new best friend. Who needs a horse with a heartbeat?

I was provided with free park tickets as part of my on going relationship with Cedar Point. I was not asked to write a positive review. All photos used and opinions expressed are my own and honest. Cedar Point is honestly one of my family’s favorite places on earth.

A Look back @ Rose Byrne, Enter to win a #NeighborsMovie Blu-ray Combo Pack

Rose Byrne has developed into one of Hollywood’s most versatile actresses. The Australian beauty has played numerous roles, from her goody-too shoes portrayal of Helen in Bridesmaids, to her roles in horror films like 28 Weeks Later and Insidious, she has shown the ability to effortlessly transition from one character to the next.

In Neighbors, Rose Byrne plays Kelly, the loving wife to Mac (Seth Rogen) and mother to their adorable baby Stella (Elise & Zoey Vargas). While it’s Rogen that’s typically known for his comedic chops, Rose more than holds her own in the film, often stealing scenes from the rest of the hilariously funny cast. The great thing about Rose playing Kelly, is that she gets to break the typical Mom and wife mold seen in most raunchy comedies. Instead of being the responsible adult who always looks to straighten out her kids and goofball husband, she’s often taking part and even playing a leading role in the debauchery that takes place in the film.

In celebration of the DVD & Blu-ray release of Neighbors on September 23rd, we take a look back at the moments that made Rose Byrne our girl crush.

One of the most memorable scenes from 2011 comedy hit Bridesmaids is the scene in which Annie and Helen are giving toast speeches at Lillian’s cocktail reception to celebrate her upcoming wedding. Annie & Helen trade off giving increasingly ridiculous toasts to the bride, in an effort to out-do one another. The fact that Byrne is able to hold her one, and even one-up the ever-funny Kristen Wig served as a testament to just how funny she could be.

2011’s X-Men: First Class served as a rejuvenating entry for the X-Men film franchise. The introduction of new characters, along with a new era and setting helped to reinvigorate the franchise. Much of the success if then film can be attributed to the stellar cast that assembled to bring the iconic comicbook characters to life. Rose Byrne plays the role of Dr. Moira MacTaggart, a genetics doctor who is willing to do whatever it takes to get answers. In what is one of the risqué scenes of her career, she smoothly and seductively works a room of politicians in nothing but lingerie. Her persistence pays off, as she is able to sneak away from the party and get the answers she needs.

Rose Byrne plays Scarlet, an Army doctor helping to rebuild Europe after the outbreak of the Rage Virus in 2007’s zombie film, 28 Weeks Later. The follow up film to Danny Boyle’s classic 28 Days Later is viewed as one of the better horror sequels of all time. A large reason the film being so widely loved is the on-screen charisma of Rose, as well as the break out performance of Jeremy Renner as Sergeant Doyle. Amidst the chaos of the zombie outbreak in the film, Scarlet shows she’s a tough cookie as she disposes of an infected soldier with a well timed headshot. This is hardly the first time Rose has handled a gun, as you will see in the next entry.

Rose Byrne became a household name with her portrayal of Ellen Parsons in FX’s hit series, Damages. Despite acting alongside one of Hollywood’s most iconic actresses in Glenn Close, Rose had a number of outstanding scenes that proved to audiences that she had one of a kind talent. While her character at times was that of a victim in the show, there wasn’t a more powerful scene than when she took a stand against domestic violence and protected her mother from her father, offering to shoot him in any limb he preferred. Her pointing a gun at him and emphatically telling him to “get the f*ck out” was one of the most talked about scenes from the show.

Good fences aren’t nearly enough to keep things neighborly when a non-stop rager breaks out in the suburbs next door to sleep-deprived new parents in the comedy blockbuster, Neighbors, available on DIGITAL HD August 12, 2014 from Universal Studios Home Entertainment. The outrageously funny comedy will arrive on Blu-ray™ Combo Pack including Blu-ray™, DVD, Digital HD with UltraViolet™ and On Demand September 23, 2014. Both the Digital HD and Blu-ray™ include a never-before-seen uproarious Alternate Opening that Yahoo! Movies’ Kevin Polowy hails as “explosively funny.” The Alternate Opening reveals just how the boys of Delta Psi Beta came to suburbia. The Neighbors Blu-ray™ Combo Pack will also include additional bonus features including a Gag Reel, Line-O-Rama, Behind The Scenes interviews and more.

By all appearances, new parents Mac (Seth Rogen) and Kelly Radner (Rose Byrne) are living the American Dream – complete with an adorable baby girl and a beautiful new starter home in the suburbs. Still, the early-thirtysomethings want to believe they have a modicum of coolness left within them. So when they discover that their new next-door neighbors are none other than dozens of Delta Psi Beta fraternity brothers led by charismatic president Teddy Sanders (Zac Efron), they try to make the best of an awkward situation. But when the frat’s parties grow increasingly more epic, both sides of the property line begin to fend for their turf. The neighbors’ relentless sabotage escalates into outrageous one-upmanship, beginning a Greek war for the ages. Also stars Dave Franco and Christopher Mintz-Plasse.

Bruce Campbell bringing ‘The Evil Dead’ to TV

Three decades ago the book “The Evil Dead” was developed into a cult movie classic, which was followed by two sequels and a 2013 reboot, now the franchise will return as a TV series.

The original movie’s writer and director, Sam Raimi, made the announcement at San Diego Comic-Con. Along with his brother Ivan Raimi, the two plan to write the series with original star, Bruce Campbell.

More exciting for horror fans is the fact that Campbell confirmed to a fan on Twitter that he intended to star in the series, or at least “that’s the plan.”

Campbell made an appearance in the 2013 Evil Dead reboot in a scene after the credits, lifting his head from the darkness and saying his classic line from The Evil Dead II, “Groovy,” after a voice-over recited this portentous line from the first film: “I have seen the dark shadows moving in the woods and I have no doubt that whatever I have resurrected through this book is sure to come calling for me.” That the cameo spun the rumors of Campbell’s return to the film series, though currently no other film sequels appear to be in the works.

I’m not only a fan of The Evil Dead franchise, but of pretty much all things Bruce. So, it’s a sure thing that I’ll be watching. What about you? If it happens, will you watch?

Lightspeed Outdoors Tent Review, Screen House & Outdoor Blanket Giveaway

When we go camping it’s all about family, enjoying the outdoors, and well for me, the food. There is nothing like Aunt Luann’s campfire peach cobbler. Yum! Every summer my husband’s family schedules a week of camping. Filled with swimming, canoeing, and late nights by the campfire. Some relatives stay the entire week, while others come and go. It’s a great time!

This year instead of renting a cabin across the park, we enjoyed staying on the campsite with everyone else, in our new three room Compound 8 Tent from Lightspeed Outdoors. Sent to us for review here on my blog. Before leaving for a week, we of-course did a trial run of the tent in our backyard. The Lightspeed Outdoors compression hub system really makes it easy. My husband had the tent up in no time.

“At LightSpeed Outdoors we are committed to making the outdoors easy so you can spend less time hassling with your gear and more time enjoying life.”

With the highest point being 7 ft tall, this tent is huge. The three rooms divided by zippered walls, and the covered front porch gave us all the space we needed to stay the entire week with our family. Each room features wide, zippered, screened windows and built-in storage pockets. Plenty of room for us, even for dog Roxy! A fun home, away from home.

Before settling in for the week we decided to spray the tent to repel bugs and rain. Boy did it rain! The rain flap over the tent, and double covered seems did a great job keeping us dry, but the lose design of the outside window cover aloud for some condensation over the head of our bed. Disappointing, but nothing a little Velcro wont fix for next year.

We’ve camped in the Compound 8 tent three times so far and loved it. We’re also enjoying a Lightspeed Outdoors Screen House. Whether we’re on a campground or enjoying family time in our backyard, the added bug protection of the screen house let’s us eat, talk and play board games longer into the night. It’s Lightspeed Outdoors compression hub system allows for ultra quick set up and tear down and easy to carry case let’s us take it anywhere.

To add to our camping experience the generous people at Lightspeed Outdoors also sent us one of their Outdoor Blankets.

The Lightspeed Outdoors Outdoor Blanket was designed for any family occasion. Made of 3-layers, this outdoor blanket is awesome. The first layer is a heavy yet spongy material that insulates the middle cushion layer from wet and hard ground. A top layer of soft, water repellent polyester brings it all together. This blanket has been a big hit with our family, especially Roxy.

You can purchase the Compound 8 tent, Screen House, and Outdoor Blanket, as well as a variety of other quality LightSpeed Outdoors products on their website. You can also shop LightSpeed Outdoors products at select retailers nationwide.

Cascade Platinum Review & Giveaway #DDDivas #CascadeShiningReviews @MyCascade #sponsored

This review was made possible by Double Duty Divas and Cascade. I was provided the featured product free of charge to facilitate my review, but all opinions are 100% mine.

I recently received the above products from Cascade. The task – to make homemade gooey mac & cheese, yummy brownies, and invite some people over to share them with. Let all the dishes sit (even overnight), run the dishwasher using Cascade Platinum, and Cascade Rinse Aid for my guests to see the results.

Also, everyone leaves with Cascade Platinum and Cascade Rinse Aid. Yay!

So, that’s what I did. I mixed a batch of peanut butter chip brownies the night before (so the dishes could sit overnight). Then the afternoon of, I made my own homemade, extra cheesy mac & cheese, with buttery, crunch topping.

I’m not one to ever neglect dirty dishes, and knowing both of these would put Cascade Platinum to the test, I was a bit worried how this was going to turn out.

With promises of triple action formula, no pre-wash needed and the power to remove 24 hour stuck on food, I went ahead and let all the dishes sit in the sink. This is soooo not like me!

While everyone enjoyed the food, and while the dishes sat, we had some fun going over Cascade’s tips for how to load your dish washer.

  • Stack your dishes high and low but be sure that bulky items DO NOT block the detergent chamber.
  • Place tall dishes and pans in the back of the bottom rack so they DO NOT block the powerful sprayer under the bottom rack.
  • Place glasses and other fragile items in the top rack. This helps keep them from the sprayer.
  • Set glasses between tines on the rack NOT over them as wet contact points can cause spots.
  • Thread any long utensils through coffee-mug handles to help keep them secure in the wash.
  • Check to ensure that there aren’t any stray utensils that will block the nozzle or sprayer.
  • Got any big dishes? Load them on the bottom rack face down.

I had so many dishes that day, I had to run the washer twice!

Cascade Platinum put my worries to easy! Wow, the dishes, even the ones that sat overnight were sparkling clean and with no pre-washing! One little packet actually contains enough power to clean a whole load of dirty dishes. Using special enzymes that latch onto food, breaking it down so it can it wash away. But Where does the food go? “There is a garbage disposal built into the bottom of almost all dishwashers that works just like the disposal in your sink.” Who knew? I didn’t – thank you Cascade for that bit of info.

Cascade Platinum features a premium, advanced triple-action formula specially designed to deliver Cascade’s best-in-market performance. The results are Very impressive!
