A diamond in the rough, my latest resale find

I had been toying around with the idea of buying a game table for my family room. For our occasional family game night, and pinochle night with the girls, it has always been a pain to have to lug out the needed card table and folding chairs from the basement, which was never an easy task. Although a hassle to store, a card table and chairs can be readily setup and moved. At the time that I was … [Read more...]

The Salvation Army thrift stores host Fall Savings Spectacular

One of my favorite places to shop resale is The Salvation Army thrift store. Just recently while looking for t-shirts, our teenage daughter found a jacket and a winter coat that she loves. Both combined cost us less than thirty dollars. A total score for our tight budget. The Salvation Army’s Fall Savings Spectacular is just around the corner. All 34 metro Detroit Salvation Army thrift store … [Read more...]

7 Things on Sunday

Seven things I've done over the past seven days. Have had a sinus headache for three out of the past seven days. Made my first big pot of chili of the season. Stayed awake way too late after watching American Horror Story. Stopped at a thrift store with our teenager, and ended up buying her a nice winter coat. Enjoyed having my parents over for dinner. Tripped and feel over our dog and threw my … [Read more...]

Greatest Salvation Army find yet!

So excited to tell you about my latest discovery at my local Salvation Army store. As you probably have gathered by now if you’ve read any of my previous blogs, I love to browse through the local thrift stores in my area. Although I enjoy the local stores, I will venture out to outlying areas in search of my next great find. While I was not in the market for a coat, something coaxed me into the … [Read more...]

Salvation Army find turns into a great addition to family game night!

Found this little gem at my local Salvation Army store. I couldn’t pass it by, the blue tag was marked $4.99, lucky for me, it was half off blue tag day! Even though I had no clue what it was, I knew that I couldn’t go wrong paying $2.50 for it. It was a well-constructed felt-lined box with the numbers 1-9 that could be flipped forward and back. It included two dice and instructions for the … [Read more...]

You read that whole book cover to cover so many times that the pages were coming loose and you could remember what pages the chapters started on. Now that you're an adult and you've moved into your real, adult home, you may have a bookshelf that … [Read more...]

Do You Have Kid Clutter?

Welcoming a new child into the family is a joyous occasion for all, but the additional expense associated with a new bundle of joy can also be a big worry for some parents, especially in this economy. In fact, 62% of American parents surveyed by eBay Classifieds that their babies accumulated more stuff in the first year than themselves they did in five years, at a total expense of $1,400. … [Read more...]
