PowerMyLearning.org is a free non-profit website for kids K- 12th. The site provides educational online games that incorporate all the things kids enjoy with learning – such as trains, animals and even fashion.
I recently opened a parent account on PowerMyLearning to review with my fourteen year old daughter, and six year old granddaughter. Both are very tech savvy, and spend a good amount of time online. So, I knew going in that this website would have some real competition their eyes.
I was impressed by the amount of parental control PowerMyLearning offers. Also impressive is the amount of games, and how easy they are to access. This should keep most kids from wandering back onto the web.
For the amount of options offered, the website is very well organized, and easy to navigate.
The main categories are:
- Language Arts
- Social Studies
- Art & Music
- World Languages
Being only six – my granddaughter first chose math to explore.
After math we went on to explore a few other subjects, like art & music. Though the site didn’t hold her attention as long as I would have liked. It has been a hit with my teenage daughter who is studying high school Spanish this year. She has also spent time exploring the Social Studies category and has nothing but good things to say about it. Like how interesting it is, and enjoyable without the pressure of watching the clock and waiting for the bell to ring. She has always been a girl that learns more on her own time.
PowerMyLearning.org is more than just games – it’s a great study tool, and a good resource for printing worksheets. Kids can even check their learning progress with a quiz.
If you have kids K- 12th, PowerMyLearning.org is a site worth visiting. One that continues to impress my family.
