In celebration of the move Epic coming to Blu-ray, DVD and DigitalHD Download we held a fun camp and screening party. Complete with barbecue, tent, arts and crafts and a sleepover.
The kids had a blast! To be honest it wasn’t so bad for us grown ups either. After dinner I passed out the Epic swag bags that were provided to me for being a Fox Home Entertainment Insider. They were a big hit. It wasn’t long and we were back outside hunting for bugs and playing in the tent. At sun set, we took the party inside to do our Epic activity sheets, decorate cookies and have a bug drawing contest. All were very colorful, just like the movie.
Then it was time for the highlight of the night, viewing the movie Epic on DigitalHD Download! It was easy and quick to download with just a couple of clicks. We were then able to connect our iPhone right to our living room HD TV on the wall for easy viewing. Which worked out great for the whole family.
Sleeping bags, pillows and flashlights – the girls were really excited to watch the movie!
The movie played beautifully. The colors were so vibrant they looked at times as if they were jumping off the screen. I still can’t get over that we were watching a downloaded movie. The quality was just as nice as a Blu-ray.
“We experience the world of EPIC through the eyes of Mary Katherine (she prefers M.K.), a smart, spirited and headstrong 17-year-old who finds herself on the journey of a lifetime. After returning to her childhood home to connect with her estranged father, Professor Bomba, M.K. loses patience with his endless stories of unseen people who live in the woods. But when she is magically transported into the Leafmen’s world, she gains a new perspective. To find her way home, M.K. must do more than believe in this world; she’ll have to help save it.”
The whole family really enjoyed this movie. The storyline is exciting, fun, and emotional at times. We enjoyed plenty of laugh out-loud moments during Epic. Steven Tyler as Nim was a great idea! I love it when they throw in something fun for the parents. I knew the girls were enjoying the movie as well, because they were quiet and never left their sleeping bags. If you have kids between the ages four and seven, then you understand this analogy. I was however disappointed by the dysfunctional, broken family behind M.K.. I found it to be over played and unnecessary that her mother had passed away. Yet, the importance of how everything is alive, and everything matters, and the fun adventures within the movie, more than made up for it. I highly recommend the movie Epic as a movie for the entire family. Since we now own a copy, I definitely see us watching it again in the near future.
