When Bridget Jones’s Diary came out in 2001, I fell in-love with Bridget. The insecure, clumsy, adorable, life keeps giving me lemons Bridget. I mean how could you not? Then in 2004 we were treated to another dose of Bridget, in Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason. Which left most of us fans wanting more…
Now, twelve whopping years later, we got our wish. The much-anticipated third installment of the Bridget Jones’s franchise “Bridget Jones’s Baby” is in theaters Friday 9/16. The new film in the beloved comedy series based on creator Helen Fielding’s heroine finds Bridget unexpectedly expecting.
After breaking up with Mark Darcy (Firth), Bridget Jones’s (Zellweger) “happily ever after” hasn’t quite gone according to plan. Fortysomething and single again, she decides to focus on her job as top news producer and surround herself with old friends and new. For once, Bridget has everything completely under control. What could possibly go wrong?
Then her love life takes a turn and Bridget meets a dashing American named Jack (Dempsey), the suitor who is everything Mr. Darcy is not. In an unlikely twist she finds herself pregnant, but with one hitch…she can only be fifty percent sure of the identity of her baby’s father.

I recently had the pleasure of hosting a fun Girls Night Out that included a trip downtown for pizza, and us attending an advanced screening of Bridget Jones’s Baby. It’s always a good time when get a group of girls together. We had so much fun! The evening, and packed swag bags were sponsored by Universal Pictures. If you follow me on Twitter or Instagram, then you likely heard all about it.
My thoughts on the movie:
Bridget Jones is back, and with a fun who done it or em, who’s is it kinda twist! Done so well, that I actually found this film to be the most hilarious of the three romantic comedies. In-fact there are a couple of scenes that had me laughing out-loud, and harder than I have during a movie in a good while. Fans of the previous Bridget movies will enjoy a few nostalgic moments, but seeing them is not necessary to enjoy Bridget Jones’s Baby. It totally stands on it’s own. Renée Zellweger and Colin Firth still have plenty of chemistry, but they don’t carry this movie alone. Patrick Dempsey is a great addition, and totally charming. Emma Thompson is also fabulous as Bridget’s doctor. The entire cast brings their A-game, making Bridget Jones’s Baby so much better than I expected. A simply smashing movie. Perfect for a fun girls night out.
