After seeing this recipe shared on Facebook a few dozen times, I thought I would give it a try. It clams to be “restaurant-good and slow-cooker easy”. Hmm, we’ll see.
1 box Betty Crocker™ SuperMoist™ triple chocolate fudge cake mix
1 1/4 cups milk
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1 box (4-serving size) instant chocolate pudding and pie filling mix
2 cups milk
1 bag (12 oz) milk chocolate chips
Spray 6-quart slow cooker with cooking spray. In large bowl, beat Cake ingredients with electric mixer as directed on cake mix box. Pour into slow cooker.
In medium bowl, beat pudding mix and 2 cups milk with whisk as directed on box. Pour into slow cooker over cake batter. Do not mix. Sprinkle chocolate chips over top.
Cover; cook on Low heat setting 2 hours 30 minutes to 3 hours or until cake is set and pudding is beginning to bubble out of cake.
Be prepared, your house is going to smell amazing!
Mine took the full three hours to cook, maybe a little longer. I kept peeking and looking for bubbles, but they never really came like I expected. It felt like forever. When we couldn’t wait and longer, I tested a spoonful. The cake was fully baked, so I called it done.
The end result – delicious, sinfully delicious.
When you go to serve this cake, keep in-mind that it is super rich, even for a chocolate lover. We decided to pair it with vanilla ice cream and a dab of whip. Which was perfect.
Slow-cooker Chocolate Lava Cake was a hit with my family. I’d give this recipe an 8 out of 10.
