When you think about family size sedans, the first thing that comes to mind is practical. The description doesn’t exactly scream excitement. A statement I would have agreed with, until recently when I was asked to drive the 2016 Toyota Avalon for a week to review.
With its combination of comfort, quality and performance, the 2016 Toyota Avalon is one of the most impressive cars on the market. I wasn’t so sure I would like a car this size, but it was love at first drive. The vehicle is spacious inside and stunning outside. I just love the lines on this car. And, seriously – check out that beautiful color! Parisian Night Pearl. If I were in the market, I could easily see a 2016 Toyota Avalon Sedan in our driveway.
Avalon’s standard leather-trimmed seats, soft-touch materials and French stitching add up to an environment that feels as if it was made just for you. Subtle design touches make sure that the interior of Avalon stands out.
Our favorite interior features:
Premium heated and cooled seats
Power rear sunshade
Spacious second row
Our favorite technology features:
Qi-compatible wireless smartphone charging
Our favorite amenities:
Three-zone automatic climate control
Intelligent Touch capacitive controls (very slick!)
Entune™ Premium JBL® Audio
The 2016 Toyota Avalon is packed with plenty of power under the hood. Making it pretty exciting to drive. I drive two freeways everyday, and it had no problems at all keeping up. Lot’s of pep in this sedan. It is also incredible soft on the road. Handling pumps and turns like driving on a cloud. I think this might be the ultimate luxury vehicle.
I honestly can not think of anything negative to list in this review. the car is beautiful inside and out, a pleasure to drive and amazing on gas. I drove it all week on one tank. The only thing I would change is the size of the rear-view mirrors. They felt a little small to me. Keeping in-mind I drive an older car everyday, it might be something I just have to get used to.
Let’s talk safety!
The road can be unpredictable. That’s why we created available Toyota Safety Sense™ to help keep you safe from harm. This newly developed active safety package combines Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection, Lane Departure Alert, Auto High Beams and Dynamic Radar Cruise Control to help assist you. By working together, the systems help address three key areas of accident protection: preventing or mitigating frontal collisions, keeping drivers within their lane, and enhancing road safety during nighttime driving. Combined, these features create in-the-moment safety designed to support your awareness and decision-making on the road.
Pre-Collision System (PCS)
Using a forward-facing radar and camera that scans the road ahead, this intuitive system helps you to avoid a potential collision in certain situations. 5 When a potential collision is detected, you are alerted with audible and visual warnings, and brake assistance is automatically activated. If you do not apply the brakes, and the system determines the collision is unavoidable, the brakes are automatically engaged.
Packed with all of the features that I enjoy, and the safety features that I depend on, the 2016 Toyota Avalon is a sedan you can get excited about. I highly recommend a test drive if you are in market for a family size sedan.
