Technicolor’s The Deep is now showing on Netflix and the Universal Kids network with raging success! Have you seen it?
The Deep follows the Nekton family—a brilliant team of underwater explorers. With state-of-the-art technology and an unquenchable thirst for discovery, the Nektons explore the mysterious depths of the ocean, where most of our world lies unexplored and unexplained. While others look up to the stars, this family knows that an infinite number of things shine brightly in the darkness below. The deep is a place where leviathans swim through sunken cities, where pirates lurk amidst floating black markets, and where a mysterious group of Guardians hide long lost secrets.
The fan-favorite series features the recognizable voice talents of Ashleigh Ball (Rainbow Dash, My Little Pony: The Movie), Vincent Tong (Kai, Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu), Kathleen Barr (Misako, Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu) and Michael Dobson (Bulk Biceps, My Little Pony: The Movie).
The Deep is adapted from the Aurealis Award-winning graphic novel series by #1 New York Times bestselling writer Tom Taylor (Injustice 2, Injustice: Gods Among Us, Earth 2, Superior Iron Man, Star Wars: Blood Ties), and illustrated by James Brouwer (Justice League Beyond). Taylor serves as co-creator and lead writer of the series and Brouwer serves as co-creator and art director.
Produced by Australia-based A Stark Production and Canada-based DHX Media; distributed by DHX Media Ltd; underlying rights and brand managed by Technicolor, The Deep currently airs on multiple broadcasts internationally.
I haven’t read the graphic novels, but I recently watched the first two seasons of The Deep during a weekend sleepover with our granddaughters. The series is very well-done with beautiful colors, and great story-lines. I love the diversity within the family. I love even more that our girls watched it and never even commented on the diversity. Having the kids equally contribute to the stories, and are not just helping or like other similar series, making things worse, is also a big plus for me! These are smart, active role models for a preteen. I don’t know if there will be a season three of The Deep, but if there is, we will for sure be watching it.
