Did you hear that!? In-case you were wondering about that loud earth shaking noise – Marvel’s Thor:The Dark World landed on Blu-ray, 3D, DVD, and Digital HD!
If you’ve been reading my blog over the past four months, you know I’m excited to own this blu-ray. Having had the opportunity to attend the Red Carpet Hollywood premiere and interview several cast members, was like a dream come true for me! I will always have a special fondness for Marvel’s Thor franchise.
Marvel’s Thor: The Dark World continues the big screen adventures of Thor, the Mighty Avenger, as he battles to save Earth and all the Nine Realms from a shadowy enemy that predates the universe itself. In the aftermath of Marvel’s The Avengers, Thor fights to restore order across the cosmos… but an ancient race led by the vengeful Malekith returns to plunge the universe back into darkness. Faced with an enemy that even Odin and Asgard cannot withstand, Thor must embark on his most perilous and personal journey yet, one that will reunite him with Jane Foster and force him to sacrifice everything to save us all.
Staring: Chris Hemsworth (Marvel’s Thor, Marvel’s The Avengers, Snow White and the Huntsman) as Thor, Natalie Portman (Marvel’s Thor, Black Swan, Star Wars Episodes I-III) as Jane Foster, Tom Hiddleston (Marvel’s Thor, Marvel’s The Avengers, War Horse) as Loki and Anthony Hopkins (Thor, Silence of the Lambs, Nixon) as Odin.
Get ready to visit the magical and stunning world of Asgard, where a lot of this movie takes place. Thor: The Dark World is filled with amazing special effects, which translate beautifully onto Blu-ray. There are plenty of exciting action and battle scenes in Thor: The Dark World, yet it’s the banter between brothers, and the well written one liners that really makes the movie for me.
You can read more about Thor: The Dark World including my movie review and several cast interviews in my previous blog posts.
Thor: The Dark World is just as exciting, and fun to watch in our living-room as it was in the theater. Though, I have to admit, viewing it for the first time at the legendary El Capitan in Hollywood, with the actors, and the talented people who created the movie is pretty hard to beat.
Just a reminder to keep watching during and after the credits for not only one surprise but two! Including a lead-in to Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” in theaters August 1st. The clip stars my favorite actor Benicio Del Toro as The Collector.
Don’t miss out on these Blu-ray bonus features!
- Never Before-Seen Extended and Deleted Scenes
- Gag Reel
- Exclusive Look- Marvel’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier
- A Brothers’ Journey: Thor & Loki
- Scoring Marvel’s Thor: The Dark World with Brian Tyler
- Audio Commentary with Director Alan Taylor, Producer Kevin Feige, Actor Tom Hiddleston and Cinematographer Kramer Morgenthau
Iron Man fans rejoice! Also included on this blu-ray is the Marvel One Shot short film Hail to the King; which is very done. The short film, done in the style of an exploitation/grindhouse film, focuses on Trevor Slattery (Ben Kingsley), who is currently serving jail time and enjoying his post Mandarin celebrity. Though I should point out that the language in this short is not all family friendly.
