Nothing beats time spent around the table enjoying a home-cooked meal with my husband and daughters. Yet, working outside of the home can often make cooking on a weeknight a real challenge. So, I’m always on the look-out for new, and easy recipes that will help bring my family to the table. Because new and easy recipes are not always good or healthy, I’m sometimes left to create my own.
I recently received a gift from Ragú and was asked to create and share a #NewTraDish recipe using Ragú® Old World Style® Traditional Sauce. I call this one “Weeknight Sausage & Penne Pasta”.
2 tbsp of olive oil
1 tsp of Italian seasoning
1/2 tsp of crushed garlic
1 package of turkey dinner sausage
1 package of penne pasta
1 jar of Ragú® Old World Style® Traditional Sauce
Parmesan cheese to taste.
Heat oil, seasoning and garlic on med high for three minutes.
Cut dinner sausage into several 1″ size pieces.
Stir oil mixture, add sausage. Cook according to package, and brown on two sides.
Cook pasta according to box.
Heat Ragú Old World Style Traditional Sauce until hot and then turn to a simmer until right before serving.
Layer pasta with desired amount of sausage, and top with Ragú sauce. A sprinkle of Parmesan cheese really brings the flavors together.
I also made a loaf of Garlic bread, and a bag of frozen baby broccoli florets.
This meal took less than 30 minutes to prepare, cook and serve. Perfect for any weeknight. It was hit with my husband and daughters. Even our very picky teenage daughter went back for seconds. I have to credit Ragú, the Old World Style Traditional Sauce has a real fresh, and robust flavor, giving any homemade sauce a run for it’s money. I definitely see us cooking with this sauce again soon.
