Celebrate everything you love about Pixar when Pixar Fest lands at Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park April 13-Sept 3, 2018! If it is any kind of prelude to the upcoming Pixar Pier (a re-branding of a large section of their theme park, California Adventure) opening on June 23rd, fans are in for a huge treat, as what I have already seen goes above and beyond my expectations.
I recently had the pleasure of traveling to San Francisco to attend a press day at Pixar Studios. Being such a big fan of Pixar movies, I still feel like pinching myself at just the thought that I was included in this very special press event.
Part of our press-day at Pixar included a DISNEYLAND “Pixar Fest” presentation by the Theme Parks team including Production Manager Krista Sheffler, Creative Director Tasha Sounart and Production Manager Heidi Holman. This was such a fun part of our day. These women work hard to bring the best experiences to the parks, and I don’t think anyone will be disappointed in what is coming next.
Here are some Pixar Fest highlights that I am excited to share.
The food! Pixar Fest is filled with fun Pixar-inspired eats and treats. There will be “Monsters, Inc.”-themed chilled noodle salad at Lucky Fortune Cookery (with noodles that change colors!). I heard that they are super cool, and of-course they taste great. For more of a formal meal – there is the option of a “Ratatouille”-inspired three course dinner at Café Orleans that sounds amazing.
Also, fans of the park wont want to miss the new churro flavors, including the “Coco”-inspired Coco Churro (Frontierland churro cart) and the “Up”-inspired multi-colored fruity churro with lemon sugar (Main Street, U.S.A. churro cart).
The Pixar Fest Celebration Cake looks to die for- I am all about the cake! Inspired by the famous yellow Pixar Ball, it looks delicious. The Pixar Fest Celebration Cake is available for guests at Plaza Inn at Disneyland Park and Boardwalk Pizza & Pasta at Disney California Adventure Park.
There is plenty more, like Alien Pizza Planet, Root beer floats served in a souvenir Woody boot at Golden Horseshoe Saloon, and I heard great things about “The Carl”, a fried bologna sandwich at Carnation Café. Yes, I just said fried bologna.
Those of you who like to visit the parks for more than just the food, whomever you are will be excited to hear about these really fun Pixar Fest happenings.
Don’t miss the famous Disneyland Fireworks Show! I remember our first trip to the park, our youngest was three, almost four years old, seeing the castle and the fireworks was all she could talk about, and then after spending the day enjoying the park, we had to wake her to see the display. She could barely keep her eyes open, she was so little and sweet, all snuggled on her dad’s shoulders. That day at the park is still one of my favorite memories of our girls being young.
Experience “Together Forever—A Pixar Nighttime Spectacular” from multiple Disneyland Park locations: This new multimedia fireworks show immerses guests into a story of friendship featuring your favorite Pixar characters with the use of projection mapping on iconic locations including Sleeping Beauty Castle, the water screens of the Rivers of America, the façade of “it’s a small world” and the buildings of Main Street, U.S.A. -http://disneylandnews.com
The images shown to us during this portion of the presentation were simply spectacular, there were a lot of ohs and ahs in the room.
Get ready for the parades! “Pixar Play Parade” will be an interactive, daytime parade that will feature the iconic Pixar Lamp and Ball from the original Pixar short, “Luxo Jr.,” and plenty of beloved characters from “Up,” and “Inside Out.”. Then fans will enjoy the “Paint the Night” parade, this nighttime parade will feature a million brilliant lights as it makes its way through the park. It will become even more super in June, when it adds a new float inspired by “The Incredibles” and “Incredibles 2.”
Pixar’s famous shorts
Don’t miss the Sunset Showcase Theater, showing a collection of Pixar Shorts, including For the Birds and LAVA, there will be Pixar inspired performances in the Paradise Gardens area, and keep your eyes out for new Meet and Greet areas to be set up with Buzz, Woody, and Jessie from Toy Story; Mike and Sully from Monsters, Inc.; Nemo and Dory from Finding Nemo; and Lightning McQueen and Mater from Cars.
Let’s talk rides!
Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters: In this interactive attraction, guests fire lasers to help battle Evil Emperor Zurg, who is trying to steal the batteries from helpless toys.
Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage: Guests take a submarine voyage to explore the world of Nemo and his underwater friends.
“it’s a small world”: Woody, Jessie and Bullseye from “Toy Story” are among the many toys and dolls found in this classic attraction.
Meet Pixar Pals
Guests can meet some of their favorite Pixar pals at Paradise Gardens in Disney California Adventure, such as Buzz Lightyear and Woody, Russell and Dug, Flik and Atta, Mike and Sulley, and Mr. and Mrs. Incredible.
There really is something fun for everyone. Fans young and old of Disney/Pixar’s Animation are going to feel as-though their friends have come to life in new ways during Pixar Fest.
Most of our time at Pixar Studios was spent attending an early press event for Disney/Pixar’s Incredibles 2! Watch for my behind the scenes and interview posts on Incredibles 2 to be shared here soon.
