Find out “Who Gets The Dog” when Alicia Silverstone and Ryan Kwanten battle it out!
Alicia Silverstone and Ryan Kwanten star in this heartfelt romantic comedy about what happens when puppy love goes to the dogs. After six years of marriage, successful physician Olive (Silverstone) and her struggling ice hockey hubby Clay (Kwanten) decide to call it quits. And although the split is amicable, they both want custody of their beloved dog Wesley. Facing a court-ordered 60-day review to determine who’ll get custody, Olive and Clay each try their doggone best to win over the judge – and the pooch. But no matter who “wins,” everyone will lose – unless man’s best friend can somehow reunite the couple in this fun, charming story.
I had the opportunity of watching an advanced preview of “Who Gets The Dog” on iTunes. We are big-time dog lovers in our house. Our basset hound (Foxy Roxy) has been with us for almost twelve years, and is very much a part of our family. I can’t even imagine trying to decided who would get the dog if my husband and I ever decided to call it quits.
This is about a marriage, but the movie is centered around the dog, and stays within it’s PG rating. Having a daughter that has been in-love with dogs since birth, I have watched a lot of PG rated, dog centered movies. Learning to “take it for what it is” and not to expect an Oscar worthy script has led to some enjoyable movie watching over the years, with and without my daughter. I will admit, that I am officially a sucker for any “dog centered movie”. This one included. A love story, with some cute, laugh out-loud dog moments. It also doesn’t hurt to throw in a little Ryan Kwanten, the cutie-puttie from one of my favorite television series, True Blood. There were a few scenes that made this movie better than I expected. Though it’s not without it’s flaws. I was glad to not have seen it on the big screen, but on my couch, under a blanket, after a long day at the office, it was the perfect escape.
