We recently upgraded to the new Xfinity X1 Platform. While most cable companies offer premium HD entertainment packages, it would appear they are not all created equal. The Xfinity X1 interface is impressive right from the start up. Stunning picture quality (full HD 1080p even with On demand), and up to date features that have greatly improved our home entertainment experience.
The Xfinity X1 Platform guide offers so much more then channel selection. With real-time browsing and endless amount of information I often find myself happily getting lost within the guide.
You can customize your guide view. Just double click the guide button on the X1 remote to set your preference. All Channels, HD Channels, Favorites, Movies, Kids or even Trending (currently trending popular programs). This is nice when you have a specific program in-mind while searching.
My husband is a fan of the Mini Guide, it let’s him search without ever leaving his current program.
I have mad-crazy love for the info button! This is where I most often find myself getting lost. With just a push of a button, a massive amount of options and information displays on the screen. Such as the movie’s synopsis, it’s year, other airing times, the option to record, and more info. Even the option to restart (when avaible). I love to jump from a movie synopsis to Cast & Crew, an actor’s bio, and then to Appearing In. I find a lot of underrated and new to me movies that way. There is also an age rating, and Rotten Tomatoes rating displayed on most movies to help you decide if it’s right for you. The info button can be a lot of fun for any movie fan.
The universal search option is also great! This let’s you search (movies, television, even actors) from anywhere in the interface, simply start entering letters through the numerical keypad on the Xfinity remote and it will immediately pull up a list of all relevant programs. When I say “all”, I mean all, It pulls results from live programming, the dvr and On Demand.
Speaking of On Demand, the Xfinity X1 Platform offers an unbelievable amount of On Demand programing. So much so, that we stopped using any pay-to-stream subscriptions. Which means less bills to pay each month, and a little more money in our budget. How cool is that!
A few things I love about Xfinity X1 On Demand
The categories! With fun categories like Sundance winners, Epic Plot Twist, Wicked funny, Love sick, Sick of love, Super Natural Scares, just to name a few – there are literally hundreds if not thousands of movies to chose from.
All the hit series, and then some. Being a T.V. junkie, I’m always looking to catch up on current television series, or even relive some of my favorites. Xfinity X1 On Demand lets me do both. I’m sometimes late to the party (hello Jane The Virgin) or have fallen really behind on a series (Grey’s Anatomy) so being able to binge watch a season or two at a time is a great feature for me.
Now In Theaters. Yes, you read that correct. Xfinity On Demand offers a whole list of new movies to rent that are currently playing in theaters. I love this feature. Even though some titles come with a higher price tag then a normal rental, it’s still much cheaper than a trip to the movies, and we get to watch it together, from the comforts of home. Most often under a blanket and in our p.j.’s.
It’s like the Xfinity X1 Platform was designed with movie and television geeks like me in-mind. Finally, a cable company that get’s me, really gets me…
Watch for more on our Xfinity X1 experience to be shared soon. Including other favorite features, what we’re watching and trouble shooting until we got it right, our Xfinity X1 Internet experience.
