Bridesmaids is marching onto DVD, Blu-ray and digital download on 9/20/11!
I had the pleasure of inviting my friends over for a Saturday night advanced viewing party. It was the perfect ‘Girls Night In’. My house was filled with amazing friends, good food, great drinks and a whole lot of laughs! We did so much laughing that Vicky (one of my closest BFF’s) told me the next day her face actually hurt from it all.
As you can see my living room was decorated in pink and black and yes, there were gift bags stuffed with fun goodies like beads, bubbles and lotions. As much as I enjoyed putting all the food and party favors together for this Girls Night, the big hit of the evening was definitely the movie.
Oh my gosh, these women are hysterical! I’m impressed by how well cast this movie is. Filled with talent and such great comedic timing. It’s not very often a movie comes together so perfectly. It’s no surprise to me that Bridesmaids is surpassing Sex and the City as the number one female comedy of all time.
Bridesmaids starring “Saturday Night Live” standouts Kristen Wiig and Maya Rudolph, is produced by comedy mastermind Judd Apatow (Knocked Up, The 40-Year Old Virgin) and marks his most successful film ever.
Thirty-something Annie (Kristen Wiig) has hit a rough patch but finds her life turned completely upside down when she takes on the Maid of Honor role in her best friend Lillian’s (Maya Rudolph) wedding. In way over her head but determined to succeed, Annie leads a hilarious hodgepodge of bridesmaids (Rose Byrne, Melissa McCarthy, Wendi McLendon-Covey and Ellie Kemper) on a wild ride down the road to the big event.
This movie is one funny, gross, heartfelt-raunchy ride! I have to say the first few minutes of the movie is not for the weak. It could easily make a sailor blush. As could some of the dialog through-out. But, don’t let that scare you away from enjoying this well put together comedy. Kristen Wiig and Maya Rudolph portray best friends with believable chemistry, even when put to the test by the beautiful Rose Byrne who steps in and type-A’s herself all over everything. If Bridesmaids were to go to war, Melissa McCarthy would be their deadly weapon. Their sure shooter! The beautiful actress, portrays the butch, bawdy badass to the tee, and supplied many of the laugh out-loud moments that easily make this movie a comedic classic. The women may carry this movie, but not without help from a few talented and very funny men, such as Chris O’Dowd, and Jon Hamm to name only two.
If you didn’t have the chance to see Bridesmaids in the theater, don’t feel bad, you’ll be more than glad to have a remote in hand to rewind, and re-view some of this year’s funnies movie moments.
After the movie, don’t forget to check out all the fun DVD Bonus Features!
Deleted Scenes, Extended & Alternate Scenes, Gag Reel, Line-O-Rama, Cholodecki’s Commercial and Feature Commentary with Filmmakers and Cast. If you’re a Paul Rudd fan, keep your eye out for some pretty funny stuff in the extras.
